Summer Sewing: Sporty Shorts by Rabbit Rabbit Creations

Remember that pleated skirt that I made for the first ever summer KCW?  Jasmin Walsh, the designer of Rabbit Rabbit Creations just released these Sporty Shorts,  They are such a quick and easy sew that I made 2 of them.    

 This first pair was done in a medium weight ribbed knit that I think I bought from the Fabric Fairy  ages ago. The waistband and bias trim is from quilting cotton from JoAnn's DS Quilts.  I love how cute and simple they are. 

 These shorts can be made from any combination of knit and woven.  For the second pair, I used chambray and quilting cotton again for the waist and trims.  This time around though, I added a little (self-drafted) pocket to jazz things up in the back.

Cute, right?  I just love everything in Jasmin's shop.  I think I am pretty close to owning all of her patterns.  

.By the way, that's a size 6 that S is wearing.  How did she get so big?   We have the first day of Kindergarten coming up soon too.   I'll keep you all posted on the first day of school outfit. 

Explorer Vest and Another Art Smock

The pattern is the Explorer Vest from Liesl  of Oliver & S in the book "Little Things to Sew."  I made it as a birthday present for a friend in S's playgroup.  The plaid is DS Quilts from JoAnn's.  I chose to place it on the pocket bellows and the flaps.  The main fabric is a dreamy Lisette chambray also bought at JoAnn's.

Here's the back view.  Easy peasy project, and even with the bellows and the lining, it took me less than 3 hours to sew.

Here's my goofy girl modeling yet another birthday present for a friend, this time it's the Art Smock also from "Little Things to Sew."  Can you tell I love that book?  Not sure what the fabrics are, but they all came from my stash, which I am trying very hard to shrink a bit. 

Christmas is fast approaching.  I have a few things I'm thinking about making.  Ah, so much to do and so little time.  If only I didn't have to sleep....

a village frock

Look what I made!  A Village Frock by Sugar CIty..  This pattern has long been out of print, but thanks to the generosity of Sky, I was able to get my hands on it. 

Seriously, the pictures don't do this little frock justice.  It is way cuter in person than what my poor photographic skills can capture.   I cut a size 4.  As you can see, the dress runs a tad short.  S is little for her age; any shorter and the dress would be a tunic.

The dress was made from a linen blend that i found as a remnant.  there wasn't enough fabric so i had to cut the sleeves about an inch shorter.  The neck and sleeve trims are ds quilts.

I just cut out a whole bunch of skirts during b's nap, some to keep for s and some to give away as presents.  I'm hoping I can post something for tomorrow as well.
